REPORT ON MC MEETING WITH MOM, 7TH JULY 2011
At a General Members' Meeting held on 9th June 2011, members provided valuable insight into issues affecting the industry and after a robust discussion, the feedback was collated and turned into a working paper with suggested solutions to the problems in the industry.
The Management Committee of AEA(S) met the Ministry of Manpower officials for a dialogue on 7th July 2011. It was a very positive meeting and the working paper was presented to them. MOM officials were very receptive to the feedback from AEA(S) members. They assured the MC that MOM would like to work closely with AEA(S) to address the numerous industry issues so that there will be better solutions, wherein all parties i.e. Employers, Employees and Agencies can work in congruence.
AEA(S) also offered to facilitate members' dialogues with MOM officials to clarify policies and regulations, and this offer was warmly welcomed by them. Members can look forward to dialogues with MOM officials soon where they can sought clarifications directly on issues and policies affecting the industry, especially regarding the implementation of the 1st April regulatory framework.
MOM officials recognise the importance of AEA(S) as an industry representative and look forward to our active participation in setting up and promoting the following:
a. Accreditation - Voluntary Trust-Mark
b. Dispute Resolution Centre
c. Diversification of Membership to include Non-FDW Employment Agencies
